The Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation and the American Farm Bureau Federation are honored to have awarded the achievements of the 2010 $5,000 Agriscience Student’s Award Columbus Scholar.
Rosemary Chapple’s three chick experiments led her to 24 different competitions including two International science fairs and three National FFA agriscience fairs. She recently won the Illinois State SAE award in Emerging Technologies featuring her experiments. She was a National Agriscience Student Finalist in 2009.
Raised on a small Angus cattle farm in Southern Illinois, Rosemary was a 7-year 4-H member and showed cattle and show chickens. She was a member of the Waterloo FFA and served on the State officer team as president of 14 FFA chapters.
High school activities included three years as drum major for the Marching Bulldogs, German exchange student to Porte Westfalica, Germany, German club president, 2-year class president, WYSE team, math team, drama club best actress award for Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie, and class valedictorian. She will attend the University of Illinois majoring in Aerospace Engineering, and will perform in the mellophane section of the marching Illini.
